Pedestrian fatally struck in Stanton

STANTON — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed Tuesday night in Stanton.

Deputies responded about 9 p.m. to the 7600 block of Katella Avenue, near Date Street, where they found a woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. J. Montano of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

The woman was possibly outside of a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital to be tested for DUI, Montano said.

The area around Katella Avenue and Date Street was closed to traffic until further notice.

The name of the victim was not immediately disclosed.
