Mission Viejo High has a new offensive tackle who is easy to spot on the field.
Shlomo Bass, a 6-foot-5 1/2, 305-bound lineman from Fairfax in Los Angeles, has transferred to the reigning South Coast League champion and begins classes on Monday, March 1. The junior confirmed his transfer over the weekend.
Last season, Bass was selected All-City in the L.A. City Section. He helped Fairfax finish third in the Western League and reach the Division 1 playoffs.
Fairfax is part of the L.A. Unified School District, which hasn’t announced its plans for allowing high school competition amid the pandemic.
Bass’ arrival will help Mission Viejo’s offensive line, which lost standout center JT Hand to an early enrollment at Arizona. The Diablos open the season by playing host to La Habra on March 12.
