Stencil your signs when looks are not important.

Stenciling is one of the fastest, cheapest, and most versatile methods of sign making. It has the flexibility of hand- painting, allows for extensive reproduction, and can be used for almost any kind of surface. All negative areas of a letterform must be connected to the outer edge of the character by the characteristic stencil “bridge.”
Ink can be applied to the surface of the sign with a stenciling brush, spray paint, or roller. Hand rollers produce the most precise image and should be used on relatively smooth surfaces. Stencil brush application is the most time-consuming process and is not recommended for large quantities. It works well on rough surfaces such as concrete or burlap. Spray paint is the most commonly used method because the ink is applied quickly and dries fast. This technique is use for those on a budget, and don't really need a professional looking sign. Repair your own Sign.

If you have a little handy man or women, in you, it is quite possible you may be able to repair your own sign. I will share some of my sign service experience to help you solve your own lighted sign problem. Sorry sign company competitors’, but I know there are capable people, who can save themselves a lot of money, over the lifetime of their business sign.
When I first started working on electric signs, I did experience the power and pain of electricity, so first off, make sure you’re careful! If you have a neon sign, or lighted channel letters, these signs have the highest voltage, and will give you a good jolt. Make sure the power is off. I made the mistake of asking a customer to turn their sign off, and of course 15,000 volts numbed my arm. So make sure the power is off.
There are only a few things that could cause your sign not to light. The first one we already mentioned. Make sure you have power. It starts at the circuit breaker panel. The next thing could be the wall switch. Most signs are not wired this way, but you may have a neon window sign that plugs into a wall, which could be controlled by a switch. The most common type of control to automatically turn on your sign would be a time clock. This is a clock with trippers to turn on at night, and off during the day. I don’t know how many times I have had to charge a customer to service their sign, and find the time clock set wrong. Coming on during the day and turning off at night, there are directions to set the clock on the inside door of the time clock. Check here first.
The next thing to check would be the ends of the neon or light bulbs. The ends will be blackened if they are bad. Check the sockets if you have light bulbs. Inspect the wiring. If there are any shorted out wires, you will see them, and you can smell the burnt insulation. You will have to replace any damaged wires or sockets. The parts you need can be found at your local electrical supply or sign supply house. You also can search for the parts online. If you have bad neon, look for a local sign company who bends their own neon. Not all sign companies bend neon or service lighted signs. The do outsource, so you will pay more if you don’t find a company that does their own. We have migrated to LED lights and have a local wholesale neon company make are neon so we stay competitive.
The last thing that could be causing your sign not to light would be the transformer or light ballast. If all the above things check out, this would be the last thing to check, and of course, the most expensive. You can sometimes see the insulation of the transformer or ballast leaking out. It will be a black sticky tar like substance. If this leaks out the wiring of the transformer overheats and shorts out. Neon transformers only have 2 wires to hook up the lights. Sign Ballast’s have several wires, but are color coated for easy rewire. You can find the information printed on the transformer to get a replacement. Again just search it on the internet. If you get stumped I will gladly give some free advice, just shoot me an email. Also if you need online computer repair help, I found this site to be of help:Online Computer Repair

Anaheim Signs announced the launch of their environmental friendly Signage Products. Their goal is to use low voltage LED Lighting in all the Electric Sign Products that they manufacture. The use of energy efficient ballasts and lighting will also be used in all monument and pole signs, where LED’s are not practical.
Anaheim, CA. October 14th, 2009 – Anaheim Sign Company today announced they will use only Low Voltage LED lighting, and energy efficient electronic ballasts to light all there Sign Products. By using these types of lighting in place of the traditional neon sign lighting, Owner Rick Hobbs states that,” business sign owners, can expect to save 90% of the energy consumed by their current sign.
Most existing signs are currently not energy efficient. Some of the ballasts and lighting, dates back up to 20 years, when energy efficiency, was not a concern.
Rick Hobbs of Anaheim Signs stated, "Our goal is to have every sign that we manufacture to be energy efficient and environmentally friendly. In fact when we go to service an existing sign we are recommending that are customers switch over to energy efficient sign lighting. With the current energy crisis and worries of global warming, the use of these products in Las Vegas alone would save an enormous amount of energy. We have already implemented the use of these products on about 50% of are currant signage products which can be seen at: www.anaheimsigns.biz.

Experiance counts in the Sign Industry

There are a lot of sign companies around these days. With the advent of the computer, anyone can buy the sign software and hardware required to make signs. We also use these great tools to produce great looking business signs for our customers. We where producing commercail signs, concrete signs, business signs, pole signs, painted signs, building signs, and all custom signs when the industry was more specialized and more of a craft. Before there where computers to make our sign drawings and sign lettering precise, everything had to be done by hand. Any sign made pryor to the advent of the computer was designed by an artist, that sign rendering was taking and put on a paper pattern which had to drawn by hand. Then the pattern would be applied to metal material (or other sign material) and cut out to make a lighted channel letter. The neon had to be made to fit each letter, and each componant that was going to be used, had to be cut by hand. If are computers go down, Anaheim Signs can still produce a professional looking sign, because we have that foundation in the sign industry, Can your sign company offer that?
